Y6 Trip to London!!

This week our Y6 children had an incredible experience when they travelled to London for the day!  An early start (meeting at school at 6.30am!) saw the children catch a coach to York train station where they then caught a train to Kings Cross Station.  They arrived in London and went straight to the Houses of Parliament.  The group toured parliament, visited the Great Hall where the Queen lay in state, saw the chapel which is the main parliament area and the Houses of Commons.  The group then visited Pizza Hut for an all you can eat pizza buffet to refuel them for an afternoon of sight seeing.   I think Mr G managed to walk around every single sight in London – over 28,000 steps were completed by each child – wow!  The children saw Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and the London Eye. They even managed to visit to the Lego shop and had a cheeky game of football!  What a day!  The children finally made it back to York station at 9pm where they were collected by parents.  I’m unsure who was most tired – the teachers or children !   Many thanks to Mrs Spurr for organising the event and to Mr Reeve, Mr Goodacre, Mrs Poole, Mrs Dutton and Mrs Corbett (chair of Governors) for accompanying the children to London.
