Y6 Residential to Humphrey Head
Last week our amazing Y6 children said goodbye to their parents / carers and travelled to Cumbria for their residential. The children started off by settling in to their dorm rooms and making their beds. They then got togged up and ventured outside into the rainy weather to start their orienteering activity. They had a fab time exploring the area and were ready for their first hot meal of the week – pasta bolognaise and garlic bread followed by sticky toffee pudding – yummy! This was followed by an evening stroll to the local folley which they explored in the dark. Day two was dry and started after a great night’s sleep and hearty breakfast and involved group 1 canoeing and walking up Gummer’s How, with group 2 scrambling and making fires.. An evening meal of sausage and mash followed by chocolate cake was devoured by our hungry Y6 – they were all involved with the washing up, cleaning and making sandwiches for packed lunches so we did put them to work! Day three swapped the groups and activities so everyone had completed all activities over the 2 day period – a beautiful day and the children had lots of energy. Day four brought the sunshine again and the activities were raft building and climbing. Some very wet children by the end of the day but they had an incredible day which was finished off with beef burgers and chips – yum. On the last evening, the children did their talent show and what a lot of fun that was! The last morning at Humphrey Head included a full english breakfast followed by fossil hunting at the beach – what an experience!
Thank you to Mrs Perry, Mr Goodacre and Mr Reeve for taking the children on this trip and helping them to live life in all it’s fullness and have an incredible week! Many thanks to all of the parents and carers for allowing their children to attend this amazing experience, and for dealing with tired children we brought home.
