Y5 Trip to Pontefract Racecourse

Year 5 were invited to work with the “Racing to School Education Programme” this week.  They  travelled to Pontefract Racecourse where they looked at how Maths, Science and Literacy is used within the world or Horse Racing.  The activities included weight measurements, planning a diet, writing a race card and timetabling. Unfortunately due to the weather, Pontefract’s track was flooded so the children were unable to watch an actual horse race, but the children had fun racing each other!  Many thanks to Mr Goodacre for organising the trip, and to Mrs Corbett and Mrs Hackforth for accompanying the children on this wet day out!
