Y5 Trip to Catterick Racecourse

Children in Y5 visited Catterick Racecourse to work with the “Racing to School Education Programme.” This involved a day trip to Catterick Racecourse where the children took part in various activities including measuring the paddock in their silks to calculate how many horses can be safely paraded before a race, learning about distances comparing winning margins and how reflections are used to decide close races. Finally they learnt about horse welfare and how the kit keeps both the riders and horses safe. An amazing day out for all!
