Last week the whole school took park in a Fieldwork day for Geography. In the morning the children spent time doing Geography related activities in their classroom. This ranged from using compasses to explore the school ground, using arial photographs to recreate their own ariel photo to looking on ordinance survey maps.
In the afternoon there was a carousel of activities:
– Using quadrants to analyse the biodiversity of Tockwith school fields
– Using compasses to navigate around the school grounds
– Surface water experiment – see how well different surfaces absorbed or repelled water
– How to use thermometers – measuring warm and cold water and ice
The children had a fantastic day (mostly outside!) learning about different aspects of Geography fieldwork.
