We welcomed around 30 parents into school last Wednesday to join us for an OPAL playtime.
We discussed the ‘why’ behind OPAL play, explained how we manage risk, and looked at how child-led play benefits the whole school.
Then we headed outside to have a look at the dynamic play areas we have developed so far, and the loose part resources we have collected for play. Then at 10.30, the bell rang and we were joined by 230 enthusiastic children!
The feedback from parents was universally positive; “a breath of fresh air, “incredible”. We were delighted to see so many parents ‘testing’ the sandpit (shoes off!), ninja line, and scooters themselves!
We are now looking towards a second open morning in the autumn mud and drizzle; wellies will be required!
