We were delighted to welcome parents into classes on Friday to see how our children live life in all its fullness in the classrooms. The focus was on our broad and balanced curriculum in the classrooms followed by a session on how we retain knowledge with our teaching staff.  In the session, Mrs Williamson talked about how we use ‘memory lane’ across the school and Mr Goodacre discussed how we use low stakes quizzing.  Parents were encouraged to move across different classrooms to view different subjects and the classes that their children were in.  Many thanks to all of the staff for welcoming parents and carers into their classrooms and especially Mrs Williamson and Mr Goodacre for their talks in the hall.

Feedback we have received from parents include:

Thank you for the opportunity to come in to the classrooms and see their lessons in action. We visited Year 1 and Year 5. Every single child was fully focused on their lesson, the teachers were so engaging and captivating. Was lovely to see the subjects in action, they are lucky to have such fantastic teachers!

For the session with Mr Goodacre and Mrs Williamson, it is wonderful to hear the teachers speak so passionately about the children and education. I liked hearing about the information that is displayed in the classrooms, and why, and the big floor books the class take with them each year sound amazing, what a brilliant idea. The quizzes and the analysis of them is so detailed – what a great way to check for any gaps in knowledge.

I attended the class learning session on Friday 16th June and wanted to let the team know that I found it really enjoyable and a very worthwhile session. I watched my child’s class Y3 participate in a practical history lesson which was really good, subconsciously the children were learning history in a very exciting way and the whole class was enthralled by their experiment. Afterwards I was able to watch my son on his chrome book doing a revision and quiz session which I was very impressed with. I am pleased with the range of learning my child is being exposed to and saw him participate practically, verbally, electronically and visually and the children were so confident in their abilities. A lovely session
