Last week our year 6 children had the pleasure of spending a week at Humphrey Head in Cumbria for their residential. The left Tockwith Primary on Monday morning feeling excited as well as a little bit anxious.  On arrival the children had their packed lunches outside in the glorious sunshine and then made their way inside to find their dormitories and make their beds!  An orienteering activity was next where the children were able to explore the surrounding area a little. A delicious meal by Dave fuelled the children for more exploring in the evening. What a beautiful location!

Day 2 brought with it a sea cliff traverse, a walk up to Gunners How, Bushcraft activities and climbing/abseiling!  An amazing day where children tried some new activities and really stretched themselves and their comfort zones!  Another delicious tea preceded an evening of team games.  Day 3 swapped over the activities, so all children complete the bushcrafts, the lovely river walk, the sea clliff traverse and the climbing/abseiling.   Evening activities included more team building challenges – this time the teams tried to assemble a tower together.

On the final full day, the children spent the whole day on the water – kayaking and paddle boarding!  Games on the water were fun and I think all children ended up in the water at some point or other. Picnic in more beautiful weather and the children completed the other of the days activities.  A full day on the water meant that the children were famished by tea time and demolished their evening meals (again!).  Throughout the week, the children made their own packed lunches and helped with tasks when needed.

The final morning had the children exploring the outside together, packing up their clothes and heading back home after a final packed lunch.  Parents were delighted to have their children back, having had a spectacular week together – all children were amazing and worked so well together. We would like to say a big thank you to parents and carers for allowing us to take your children away with us, it was such a special week and one that we will all remember for a long time.  Huge thanks to Mrs Perry, Miss Perry, Mr Reeve and Mr Goodacre for giving up their own time with their families and spending the week at Humphrey Head.  Mr Reeve and Mrs Perry both commented on how amazing the children had been all well and what a great week they had had together.
