Pantomime

We were delighted to be able to take the whole school out for a trip to the pantomime. After an early lunch we caught 4 York Pullman coaches into Leeds.  A short walk around Millenium square got us to the Carriageworks Theatre.  We took up practically the whole of the theatre, with Reception and Year 1 sitting with their buddies in Year 6 and 5.  After we got everyone seated, the lights went down and the stage lit up. What an amazing performance it was!  From Aladdin to Widow Twankey and the fantastic Wishee Washee, they all put on an excellent show.  ‘It’s Behind You’, ‘Have a Banana’ and ‘Boo’ were shouted out with abundance when the ghosts and Abanazar took to the stage.  Team Spencer and Team Libby had a marvellous singing competition and the children all had a great time.

“The pantomime on the 15th of December 2021 at Carriageworks Leeds was really interactive and fun for all ages. It was a good experience for the receptions and an amazing bonding time with their buddy. They also could have a bit of independence not being with their parents or carers in a big city. Wishy washy and his mum were very funny and made a lot of people laugh. The buddies were very tired but had a very good time as did us all. Not only was it good for little one but it had some more mature jokes too. The singing and dancing was also amazing.”  Sam P Ralph G

A short walk back to the coaches and we were on our way home – with the exception of one bus which broke down on the way to collect the children.  Those children were very happy though as they got to sit in the lounge in the theatre before catching the replacement executive bus home!

We were complimented on the children’s behaviour which is always a pleasure to hear!  Thank you to all of the staff at the Carriageworks theatre for their excellent direction and support.  Thanks to the Tockwith staff for their endless patience, energy and enthusiasm for school events and finally, thank you to the parents and carers for their understanding with delays at pick up time and a late collection of tired children.

Special thanks to Mrs Spurr and Mrs Perry for holding the fort at school while the children were out enjoying the pantomime.
