On Wednesday 27th April we were delighted to finally take our school choir to the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena after it had been postponed throughout covid. Miss Kilvington has spent months rehearsing all of the songs with the children and it was fabulous to allow them to sing these at the concert. There were approximately 4000 children at the Sheffield Arena with us and it was an incredible event.
The children were amazing throughout what was a very long day! We left school at lunchtime and travelled down to Sheffield Arena. After finding our seats we were able to eat our long awaited packed lunch. The practice then started where the choir ran through all of the songs with the internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence! Food time again and then parents started to arrive. The concert started at 7pm and it was such an privilege for us all to take part in it. There were special guest performers such as ‘The Beatbox Collective’ and ‘Twinnie’ who interacted with the choir brilliantly. After the concert was over we made it back to Tockwith Primary in good time and children were collected at about 11pm by their incredible parents/carers!
A huge thanks to all of the parents and carers who allowed their children to take part in this amazing experience. We are incredibly proud of our children and their behaviour throughout the day. A massive thanks to Miss Kilvington for her endless enthusiasm and commitment to the children and this event. Thank you also to the Governors and staff that accompanied the children on the trip.
