The whole school went on a musical journey this half term during our fantastic African drumming and dancing workshops! Each year group (from our youngest in EYFS all the way up to Year 6) got involved. The children filled the school with energy as they learned to play traditional djembe drums and mastered some high-energy dance moves.
It wasn’t just incredibly fun, it was also a brilliant hands-on music lesson. The children explored key musical concepts in action, experimenting with rhythm and tempo (speed), discovering the unique timbre (tone quality) of the drums, and practicing dynamics. It was wonderful to see the entire school community connecting through music, finding their rhythm, and having an absolute blast together!
