North Yorkshire Fire Service visit Tockwith!

As part of our inspirational introduction to this half term’s topic of The Great Fire of London, we welcomed the Acomb based crew from North Yorkshire Fire Service. What a great visit it was! We loved listening to how they train to become a firefighter, how they prepared themselves with all the gear to fight a fire and had a sneaky peep inside the fire engine.. We also got to find out all the other rescue jobs they do: rescuing cats from trees, freeing people from unusual places and attending car accidents.

They also gave us top tips about how we can stay safe at home, encouraging the children to pass on the message of checking you have fire alarms at home and they work and knowing what to do should there be a fire.
