Yesterday, 26 of our Key Stage 2 children left school at 10.30 and travelled to Sheffield Utilita Arena for the Young Voices 2024 concert!   On arrival we ate our first packed lunch of the day on the coach and then made our way into the arena.  We finally got in from the cold, found our seats and prepared for the rehersal.  The afternoon saw our children practice the songs, learn new ones and learn some ‘groovy’ dance moves with the awesome conductor, David Lawrence.  We saw Nandi Bushell, a 13 year old incredible drummer perform, accompanied Mr MC Grammar in some rap and danced along with Urban Strides!    5pm came around just in time as our children (and adults!) were getting pretty peckish.

All too soon, parents and carers began to arrive and it was time for the actual concert.  What an atmosphere!!  The children were so excited to be performing as part of a choir of over 4000 children and sang each and every song with everything they had. Some incredible artists performed and it was amazing to be involved in the event.   As the concert ended, we made our way back to the coach and then back to school. It was after 10.30pm by the time all of the children were reunited with their parents back at Tockwith Primary.   We are so proud of our children and their  behaviour – they were kind to each other, the older children supporting the younger ones throughout the concert, children dancing and singing together and all of the children maintained their excellent behaviour right to the end of the evening.  Many thanks to Miss Kilvington and Mrs Curry for practicing the songs with the children every week, and to Mrs Cook for helping organise the event.  Special mention to our governors Mrs Corbett and Mrs Hackforth for joining us for the day.
