Brownlee Foundation Triathlon

15 children in Key Stage 2 had the amazing opportunity of taking part in the Brownlee Foundation triathlon. The Brownlee Foundation events have been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. The brothers attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport. This event gives Key Stage 2 pupils an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon.

First, the children swam approximately 50 meters in a swimming pool, then got out, trainers on and ran to the next event.  They cycled approximately 800 meters and finished off with a 300 meter run.  They experienced the reality of a triathlon through running and cycling whilst still damp from the swimming.  After the event the children took the time to get properly dry and then enjoy a well deserved lunch!

Each child received a medal and t-shirt for taking part and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.   Many thanks to Miss Stanton for organising the event and Mrs Corbett for accompanying the children on the trip. Thanks also to parents for supporting their children in this new event.
