America Day in Support of Amelie in Y3

Today, Tockwith Primary Academy have held an ‘American Day’ in support of one of our students, Amelie.  Amelie is travelling to America in May to undergo some medical treatment.  The cost of this treatment is high so we are raising funds to support her.  Children were encouraged to wear American themed clothes / red, white & blue clothing and Amelie chose a best dressed child from each class.  A student in KS1 and KS2 were then awarded a prize for best dressed American!  Well done to Cheerleader Ella in Y1 and Baseball Player Patrick in Y3 for winning best dressed students!

The Y6 children ran a bake sale at breaktime and after school where they sold cakes donated by our parents and carers.  We held an American lunch of hot dogs and fries and we also had a sponsored bike ride going on throughout the day. Mrs Poole started the cycle ride at 7.15am and Mr Goodacre finished it at 3.15pm.  Staff and children from Y6 continued the cycle ride going continually throughout the day – we managed to cycle from Tockwith to Blackpool!!   Brandon in Y6 had the fastest student cycle speed of 59.4kmh and Mr White had the fastest staff time of 63.6kph.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Poole, Mrs Dutton and the school council for organising this fantastic event. Also, many thanks to all of the parents and carers and other friends & family members that supported us on this day through either donating cakes to be sold, or donating cash for Amelie – a very big thank you!

We raised an incredible £701.50 for Amelie which we will donate through her Go Fund Me Page.  If you would still like to donate, please do so either to school, or via the link below:
