Tockwith Primary PTFA held a scarecrow trail around Tockwith village with the theme of World Book Day. Children were invited to sign up and create a scarecrow based on a book character which they displayed outside their house from 4th – 7th March.  Adults and children alike could then follow the map to see all of the scarecrows and collect the letters to work out the name of a famous book.

This was an amazing event that the whole village participated in.  A fantastic £118 was raised which will go towards purchasing new equipment for Tockwith Primary Academy.

Tockwith PTFA is pleased to announce that the best scarecrow prize goes to the dragon ‘Toothless’ created by Flynn Websdale’s family!
The winners of the book voucher draw go to:
£15 Ralph Gosh
£10 Harrison Shaw
£5 Saphie Round
Thank you to all those who created some amazing scarecrows and all those that participated in the trail. I think we’ve started a new tradition!  Also thank you Laura Bye for suggesting the Scarecrow Trail in the first place!
A comment from our PTFA Chair Bev Kirkham:

Tockwith School PTFA held its first ever Scarecrow Trail for World Book Day. The event was a great success with scarecrows such as Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, The Hungry Caterpillar and winner of the favourite scarecrow going to Toothless the dragon! It was lots of fun for children and a great source of delight for many older Tockwith residents too. The PTFA would like to thank everyone for their support in helping to raise £118. Due to popular demand, this event will be on the agenda for next year!
