Children in Year 1 and 2 spent the day at Skipton Castle this week in order to experience a real life castle as part of their current topic – Castle & Knights!  Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and best preserved medieval castles in England.  The weather decided to favour us and the rain held off whilst the children enjoyed exploring the castle.  They saw the watchtower, the arrow slits and even explored the dungeon in the dark!  To their delight they learnt about ‘The Long Drop’ and which hand they had to eat their food with – please ask a child in year 1 or 2 for the answer to that one!!

All in all, the children had a great day out and learnt so many new and exciting things about Castles.  A big thanks to the castle guides who were extremely knowledgeable and kept the children engaged throughout the day.
