Young Voices 2019

Our amazing choir once again traveled to Sheffield Motorpoint Arena to take part in the fabulous Young Voices event. They were joined by schools from all over the area to take part in a 4442 strong school choir. The choir rehearsed in the afternoon with the internationally acclaimed conductor, David Lawrence. We then had a long awaited break where we devoured our pack-ups and watched for the many parents arriving.  At 7pm the concert began and our children supported some amazing acts, such as Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet fame, Sharlene Hector (lead singer of Basement Jaxx among many other achievements) and finally Beau Dermott who shot to fame receiving a golden buzzer from Amanda Holden in Britain’s Got Talent.

The Young Voices choir supported all of these artists with their own songs as well as singing alone with songs such as Viva la Vida, Thank you for the Days and ‘Its a Swing Thing’! The concert culminated with a Greatest Showman extravaganza where all of the artists joined together with the choir to sing a medley of songs from the Greatest Showman soundtrack.

Not all of the children managed to make it to the end of the concert, for some it was just too overwhelming and tiring and they had to close their eyes for a minute or two. After a quick trip back down the M1, our tired singers were collected from school by their incredibly supportive parents. A huge thank you to those parents for allowing their children to be a part of such an amazing experience. Thanks also to those parents who were able to come along to the concert, the children were touched you were there. We are incredibly proud of our children for taking part in this concert and want to thank them for being so committed to the practice required for the songs and also for their amazing behavior during the performance last night.

Finally, we would all like to thank Miss Hargreaves for the time and energy she has put in to teaching the children the songs and for organising our involvement in the Young Voices event.
